Robert van den Barselaar strengthens dividend team
New hire Robert van den Barselaar is currently portfolio manager at Hof Hoorneman Bankiers, a Dutch asset manager which was recently acquired by Van Lanschot Kempen. Robert started his investment career in 2005 at Robeco Asset Management where he covered several sectors in the 8 years that he worked there. Before joining Hof Hoorneman in 2019 he gained broad experiences as analyst/portfolio manager at a family office. In addition to Robert's arrival, another new appointment is to be announced shortly. We expect to announce a new hire in Q2 2021.
Joost de Graaf joined Kempen in March 2006, along with Jorik van den Bos and Joris Franssen. Together they built the Kempen Dividend strategy. Joost is currently the portfolio manager/analyst for the sectors Banks & Insurance. Following Joost’s move to the Euro Credit team, he will continue to support the team in the transition and will remain a challenger for Banks & Insurance.
Erik van Houwelingen, member of Van Lanschot Kempen Executive Board: ‘Transferring people from one team to another is always a sensitive matter in the investment world. Nevertheless, everyone will accept that changes are occasionally needed. As we are now able to confirm the hiring of a senior of Robert's standing and as we will be announcing another portfolio manager in the near future, I am confident that we will provide our clients with the optimum stability needed to maintain confidence in this team that has been together for so long and so successfully.’
Jorik van den Bos, head of dividend: ‘As a team we are happy with the changes. Obviously we are saddened by Joost’s departure, he has been our brother in arms for so long. At the same time we are delighted to see him in another role at Kempen. Moreover, Joost will remain a challenger within the Dividend team. The hire of Robert and one new hire in the pipeline shows Kempen’s clear commitment to the dividend strategy and enables the team to build on their legacy.’
The arrival of Joost de Graaf and the confirmed hire of an eighth senior portfolio manager, who will be joining Kempen on June 1st, completes the restructuring of the Credit team that began in October last year. In the past few months, the team attracted strong and experienced professionals, making the strategy future-proof. Alain van der Heijden, head of fixed income at Kempen, is happy the team is back at full strength. ‘We have promised our clients in recent months to build a strong team. They have remained loyal to us during this transition period. I am happy to present this new strong team to them. We have delivered on our promise and are ready to continue our strong track record. Now that the transition is complete, I would like to thank our clients for their trust. It means a lot to us.’
