Kempen Private Markets Fund acquires an interest in LKE

13 March 2020

Sven Smeets, Co-Head of the Kempen Private Markets team, explains the decision: ‘LKE is a wonderful modern company with a long history of developing logistics technology and an impressive international client base. The company perfectly matches the focus on our clients that we have at Kempen and our drive to invest in stable, small and medium-sized companies who are leaders in their own specific niche market. We are proud that investors in our fund, clients of Van Lanschot Kempen, can obtain access to such a great company.’

Bram Bikker, Director of the Kempen Private Markets team, provides further information: ‘We have a great deal of confidence in LKE’s management team building on the company’s international success. Moreover, we look forward to our constructive cooperation with Premium Equity Partners and the management team over the coming years. The Kempen Private Markets Fund focuses on the small and lower mid-sized segment of the European buy-out private equity market. It’s a fund that invests on behalf of its clients in private equity, infrastructure, land (agricultural and forestry) and real estate.’

The Kempen Private Markets Fund’s participation is a co-investment with German investment company Premium Equity Partners. Together the investors have enabled a management buy-out by LKE’s management team, which as co-owner is motivated to continue growing LKE, both autonomously and via targeted acquisitions.

Marcel van Wijk, Managing Partner at Premium Equity Partners: ‘We facilitate professional entrepreneurship in small and medium-sized businesses. We are therefore very pleased, together with Kempen, to be able to help LKE’s management team realise our joint growth targets. We look forward to our future collaboration.’
